BRITISH PEOPLE NOW? John Oliver and Doctor Who. BRITISH PEOPLE LATER? Professor Layton and Luke Triton. BRITISH PEOPLE EVEN LATER? Maybe Rachel, I don’t know. Welcome to Read the Manual 95 where we are 5 episodes away from the thing.
This week’s big topics include work days, the Protomen, Smash 4 music samples, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, the Colbert Report, American Dad, Doctor Who, Kamen Rider Gaim, Pokemon X/Y, and Pokemon Yellow.
Ben Higbee asks about the media moments that have made the hosts cry, Rachel Yates wonders about the logistics of Pokémon sex, Peter Spezia inquires about encounters the hosts have had with the police, Miles Allen examines the times when the hosts have been salty, and Joe DeVader investigates the customer horror stories the hosts have experienced from working in the service industry. Additionally, as our fan-based Mailtime question, Missingno87 asks on Twitter “If you could pick one movie to have one game made of it, what movie would you pick?”
Meta Knight and the Unknown Renders leak in the Smash Bros. Update, as well as Gamescom 2014 are discussed. Also, an upcoming “shocking” Pokémon announcement, the possibility of more Mario Kart 8 DLC, and much more! With Tony’s resignation from hosting on the SMYN Network, this is the first episode where Eevee – also known as Rachel – joins us as a co-host. Youko, Solharath, and Eevee break down the latest news from the gaming world!
We’ve finally gotten back to our usual five DJs! Such a wonderful feeling, back to that familiar feeling of knowing who exactly comes next. To start out this cycle we return to Doba to start and of course he has a weird mix of stuff from video games, to anime, to internet musicians. Doba’s weird, that’s what we’re getting at. This has been a super bad week in nerd culture and our hope is that this at least brings a bit of a smile to your face!
Toho pulls a lot of weird shit, and sometimes it pays off! Most of the time though, it doesn’t. At all. Godzilla is full of a lot of dumb monsters and stupid ideas but at least we can at least call them creative. This episode’s list is Paste Magazine’s Godzilla Monsters from Lamest to Best which means every monster Godzilla has fought ever from stupidest to least stupidest. Kaiju are stupid, but in the best way so it’s a pretty fun list. This one features PsychoWingX9 as our first guest on the show when both Doba and Ben are present.
