The recent news of Tony “TonyTH” Mattingly deciding to resign from podcasting was quite a surprise to listeners of the SMYN Network. I think I speak on behalf of everyone, staff and fans alike, when I say that we thank Tony for his years of dedication to Show Me Your News. He brought an unrivaled perspective, chemistry, and voice to the podcast that we are going to miss, going forward.
That said, “Show Me Your News” has never been about giving up when life takes a sharp turn. To put it simply, that certainly isn’t going to change now. If anything, we needed to look at how we were currently operating, what we were missing, and how we could improve in that area.
Today, we are announcing a new co-host addition to “Show Me Your News” (SMYN) and “The Questionably Roundtable” (QRT).
Please congratulate RACHEL “SMYN_EEVEE” YATES on her promotion to an SMYN Network Host!
Upon analyzing how to improve our shows, we immediately realized that we needed a female perspective, to contrast from our current overuse of the male voice. We looked for someone who could easily commit to the SMYN Network brand, was already used to speaking and entertaining a digital audience, and also got along well with each of us.
Rachel is the perfect fit for all of these criteria. She will make valuable contributions to our team, when it comes to discussing video game news, as well as any topic under the sun!
When asked for comment, Rachel had the following to say…
“Hey guys! I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to be a part of the co-hosting team here at Show Me Your News. This community’s been like a little home-away-from-home to me since I joined in early 2011. I’ve loved being part of previous podcasts as a guest (and pestering to be on again because it’s such a fun experience) and I hope I can bring a lot as a new co-host to SMYN and QRT. Can’t wait to record the first ones this Sunday! <3″
For those of you yet to meet Rachel, this lovely British lady joined us in March for Episode 154 of SMYN. She also broadcasts PC gameplay nearly every day on her popular SMYN_Eevee Twitch channel.
Rachel will be joining on the next episodes of both SMYN and QRT. Because of time zones and the like, we now have to specifically regulate recording times for each of these shows.
“Show Me Your News” will now be recorded live, every two weeks, on Sundays at 1 PM ET. We stream these episodes live on our showmeyournews Twitch channel, but we also have plans in place to cross-stream the live episodes on Rachel’s SMYN_Eevee Twitch channel as well.
“The Questionably Roundtable” will be recorded weekly, not live, on Sundays at 3 PM ET. For the latter, this is a change from a Friday recording time, so episode distribution will change as a result. Episode parts of “The Questionably Roundtable” on YouTube are now likely to begin on Mondays, instead of Sundays.
We are looking forward to the ways in which this will improve the SMYN Network. Please share your thoughts with us in the comments below!
Additionally, today is Rachel’s birthday, so do be a dear and wish her a good one while you’re there, won’t you?
